Self Storage for Charities – The British Heart Foundation

The British Heart Foundation is a long term customer of The Space Program. We have been providing storage services to them since 2010 at our Weston-super-Mare self storage facility.

At this time of year, The British Heart Foundation runs a campaign aimed specifically at students who are leaving University. To store all the donated items, they have taken on a storage unit at our new Bristol South storage centre.

The Pack for Good campaign is aimed at University students in student accommodation or privately rented houses. The campaign runs at each University city across the country. The aim of the campaign is for students to donate all unwanted items to the British Heart Foundation when they move home.

As a charity, they accept everything except duvets, pillows and food. They encourage their donors to seek out local food banks and dogs homes to donate the items they are unable to accept.

A two-fold benefit of the campaign is that students help support the charity and it lessens the impact on items going into landfill.

Self storage in containers at the Bristol South Space Program suits the charity really well. It is low-cost, conveniently located for the city and they can unload from their vehicles directly into their storage unit. Also, unlike renting a warehouse, they can off-hire the unit as soon as they have finished using it.

So, if you make a donation at a collection point like the one pictured above, you now know where your donation might end up until the charity has time to process everything.
